  3. The question I have is: do you see any evidence that the moral, ethical, and spiritual foundation of the American democratic capitalist system is eroding? How does that affect the ability of capitalist proponents to promote capitalism in other countries such as China and India?

  4. Ok before i moved into my trailer there was a couple of things that were wrong with it that the landlord said he was going to fix right away so i signed the lease well after moving in it rained and there was leaks and noticed other things heres a list: black mold(hallway ceiling)
    leaking ceiling(hallway)
    dining rm(rotty-leaking window)
    front door(rotting-leaking)
    living rm(broken window)
    back door(leaks)
daughters bedrm(ceiling caving in w a hole in it-hole in floor)
bathroom(ceiling hole thats rotting w black mold-window doesnt close leaks when rains-toiletcracked leaks 24/7-sink doesnt work-can see ground outside from hole in floor)
no isulation or underpinning.Since he has refused to fix anything i didnt pay rent.he typed a evic notice on his comp!!

Seriuosly how do i make a complaint about him bein a slumlord? The notice said we have 10 days. Do i just ignore it since the law says he has to go to the courthouse? He refuses to fix ANYTHING or let the state do it, i even offered to do it myself if he didnt want to do it himself all he had to do it get the stuff to do it,then when he said no i offered to use some of the rent and do it still no,he wants me to pay rent when he wont do anything this cant be right! what can i do??im worried im going to be on the street with my 2yr old. my electric was 353$ for a 12 x60 trailer and i dont even use the back bedroom cause it doesnt get warm i keep that door closed. the window unit is in the other end of the house.

  5. I saw that WECT made a big mistake with their article about the priest that was accused of sexual abuse by doing the story in front of Sacred Heart Church in Southport. I am very disappointed that WECT has not given Fr. Trent Watts a formal apology. The apology should have been written to him, in the local paper, on your web site & said on your TV station.

  6. I am disgusted with the response we are giving to the earthquake in Haiti, we did not respond this fast to Katrina and we certainly didn’t go to the lengths of support that we are sending to Haiti. The US needs to take care of the US. I am not discriminating but we have people here that are homeless out of work i could go on and on but we are to worried about everyone else than to take care of our own.

  7. What’s up with Resteraunts getting 102 out of 100 I’m 50 years old (a high school drop out) and knew by the time I was 10, that math doensn’t work, there is no such thing as 110 percent correct. I understand you can earn 200% profit but if there are 100 points available how do you get 102?

  8. About 3 a.m. Tuesday morning there was an aircraft of some type that flew so low that it woke many people living in the South Oleander/mall/ Hawthorne Rd. area. The windows shook, the noise was deafening and I was afraid that an airplane was crashing.

During your 6 p.m. newscast I heard Rob Ellis discuss a military Osprey being seen in the area. How can we find out what this was? Is it legal? The hospital transport helicopter flys over regularly…this was not the case..

    Thank you,

    • We have not been able to find anything out about this one Eloise. Our contacts up at ILM report no activity at that time of night/morning.

  9. On Monday Feb.1st you had WECT Titan Cement online poll last I saw 71% are against Titan Cement, 23% for Titan, 6% undecided. I can’t seem to find the final results, not here on your online news and it wasn’t reported on the morning or evening news Tuesday Feb 2nd. or this morning. My questions are: What was the results of the Titan Cement online poll, and where can the results be found??

  10. Will the Bridge be out tomorrow 2-17-2010. How can I get to the hospital over the other bridge?

    • We don’t have any bridge closings in our file for 2-17 Carolyn. Is there one spot in particular that you are inquiring about?

  11. Will you be covering the opening of the movie, “Blood Done Sign My Name”? It would seem an appropriate topic for Black History. You can find more info @

It’s opening at the Carmike 16 here in Wilmington on Friday, February 19. Show times are at 1:15, 4:10, 7:05 & 10:00

I think this is a relevant topic for everyone.

Maybe it hits so close to home for me, because as a young (white) person in the 60’s & 70’s, I was appalled by racial inequality and was determined to make an effort to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

I married a black man from Oxford, NC over 17 years ago, who is about the same age as the author of “Blood Done Sign My Name”, Timothy B. Tyson. My husband, Anthony & I lived and worked in the Oxford area for a few years after we were married, and were acquainted with Attorney Hugh Currin, the Mayor of Oxford in 1970, as well as with Dr. Francine Chavis, sister of Dr. Ben Chavis, the civil rights leader.

Now, thankfully, racial conditions have improved, but what happened in the ’70’s should not be forgotten. I would encourage you to cover this movie opening not only to honor the black community, but to honor the struggles we as a society have gone through in an effort to achieve racial equality.

  12. Why was park across from the White House cleared of newsmen with cameras including all the spectators too? The security people were asking them to move back for a distance of two blocks as I understand it. Some of the spectators who were interviewed said it was because Obama was jeered at in California last week. It would be interesting to know why this was done.
